VINTAGE L.S. STARRETT I.D. SPRING CALIPERS, RARE, 6-INCH, FREE SHIP

VINTAGE L. S. STARRETT MACHINIST'S CALIPERS, inside diameter.  Nominally 6" size, the actual length is nearly 7 inches.  All steel.
This an unusual model -- note the "L.S.S." mark and the patent date of June 2, 1885.  Also note the patent date mark ON the knurled adjusting knob itself.  Note particularly the legs which taper in both dimensions, narrowing just below the retaining screw.
These calipers are possibly 80 to 90 years old.  To the best of my knowledge, were last used in the 1940s and 1950s.  Tool experts will know their age better than I do.
Used but in terrific condition.  NOT all polished up; they retain their authentic appearance and condition.  These were stored wrapped in oiled burlap and I advise you do the same.
