Ridgway Pottery Jug 11" John Gilpin

Description

Light blue Ridgway pitcher, 11" circa 1830.  Features panoramic relief scene illustrating William Cowper's 1782 poem "The Diverting History of John Gilpin."  Horsemen ride past an inn where three ladies are waving.  Sign above the ladies reads "Stop, Stop, John Gilpin!  Here's the House!" Horse head handle. Excellent condition.  Small chip at the base of the handle (pictured).
