    Description

Beginning around 1890's the Ridgeway Brothers began producing a line called Coaching Days & Coaching Ways, depicting the illustrated scenes from the book of the same name written by W. Oustram Tristram in 1888. This series was created on an amber brown transferware pottery with black transfers and was made from the 1890s to the 1920s.
The illustrations depict scenes from the old English stagecoach roads and the collection included all types of pottery – from plates and mugs to dishes and vases. All items in this collection will be stamped “Scenes from Coaching Days & Coaching ways by Special permission of Macmillan & Co Ltd, Ridgeway England”.
Circa early 1900s, crazing can be expected not only due to the age but the type of glaze used when firing. This lovely mug has the silver luster handle and rim, and illustrates the scenes: Fresh Teams and A Winter Day’s Amusement.  This titem is in Excellent condition with no chips or damage.
You will receive the item that is shown in the photos so please look at them carefully before purchase.
