Antique Staffordshire Blue & White Transferware Oriental Ridgway Plate ~ Pair
Offering an antique pair (2) of blue & white transferware plates, attributed to John Ridgway circa early 19
th
Century in the Oriental pattern. This pattern is identical to the one transferred on to the salad plate produced by John Ridgway in the early 1800’s though this plate is on a smooth edge instead of a scalloped that is usually found. The bases are both unmarked.
Plates are slightly of different size not unusual during the age of manufacturing, one measures 8
⅝
" in diameter, the other 8 ¾”
Both are in good antique condition: the transfer print has not been applied perfectly as shown (the design is off on the bordered rim) and one plate has some bubbling from manufacture.
Both plates show scratching commensurate with age and use, please see all photos
