    Antique Ridgways Semi Porcelain Covered Dish Assam Pattern
    This is a beautiful old rectangular covered serving dish with handles made by Ridgways . The pottery mark indicates this piece was made between 1885 - 1890.The Belford works which manufactured earthenware, was founded in 1866 by Edward John Ridgway. It was located in Shelton, Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent. In 1873 he partnered with his two sons John and Edward. From 1879 the business traded as Ridgways.
    This piece is a pretty white background with yellow florals, brown leaves and branches. This dish is in very nice condition. There are no chips or cracks evident. There is some wear on the gilt trim. There are a couple of rough spots on the edge, some discoloration Inside the dish ( one corner has some brownish marks but they don’t appear to be cracks).There are a few pinhole marks in the glaze inside the dish , but very little crazing. It is in quite good condition for a piece this old!
