Actual size about 2 7/8, 4 3/8, 5 1/2 from Fulcrum to Tips.
Most likely made 1867-1885.
Everything functions properly.
Expected condition for this type and age of used caliper.
These are uncleaned in ‘as found’ condition.
See the pictures.
The 3” and 4” tips have been thinned for thread work or tight grooves.
Previous owner’s marks neatly stamped only on the 5” pair.
The patent of Sep 24, 1867 refers to adjustable calipers.
These unmarked vintage antique calipers, are from a seldom seen maker, L. W. Pond Machine Co. of Worcester, Mass.
Founded by Lucius W. Pond in 1854, the L. W. Pond Machine Company began making “Pond’s Improved Caliper” in 1867.
